Welcome

I fell in love with the idea of a classical education when I read The Well-Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer, but ultimately we decided to send our daughter to public school for two reasons – through a lottery she got into a French Immersion school and I needed to begin working part-time to earn some much needed family income. However, my dedication to my kids' education started when they were infants and just because they were going off to public school did not mean they could not get the classical education that they deserve.

I started classical teaching at home before I knew what it was. As I started to learn more about Classical Education I knew that I wanted to be a classical home teacher. So far I've spent six years adapting classical homeschooling to our public school life. It's challenging at times, but I love it because figuring out how to teach and what to teach is just something I enjoy.

I figure there are other moms or dads out there that are in the same boat - your kids are in public school, but you wish you were home-schooling classical style.

This blog is for sharing ideas for conscientious home learning around the rest of life. I just want to share what I do and I very much want to know what others are doing.
